You may have already watched my first introductory amateur-shot video on Benchmarking Birds: This is how I Roll, and I trust you enjoyed it. In this post, I wanted to update you further on the different business approaches I use to understand how effectively a client is conserving its wild bird populations.
Initially, when considering the bird species on your land, you need to undertake a baseline assessment of what is present and what is not. Hopefully, these surveying activities can be repeated over different years and seasons and potentially on various blocks of land or field parcels. However, to truly conserve bird species in the longer term, you need to drill down on the species breakdowns a little more. One research practice I utilise regularly is to study each client’s bird species family breakdowns per year to help observe which birds are plentiful and which are arguably not.
If you’ve ever wondered how I undertake this process, check out my one-minute video.
Best wishes, Tony William Powell and Naturestimeline
